About Me

Geramin LaBrie grew up in India, where she learned how to cook. And during those years, she also learned that cooking is a way to show others you love them.

"When I go to India to visit my mom, she calls me before I leave here and asks me what I want to eat when I get there. I get there in the wee hours of the morning and she has my favorite breakfast made for me.

"Here in the U.S. people often tell each other 'I love you.' In India people don't do that — they show their love through food."

Since moving to Wisconsin nearly 30 years ago, LaBrie has showered friends and relatives with her love at small to large gatherings that might include recipes from India, Sri Lanka, Italy, Austria, Germany and the United States.

She draws from these cuisines because she was born in Sri Lanka, but her family moved to Bangalore in southern India. While there, she was influenced by the foods of the Malabar Coast, where her grandparents were from.
